Principals
Ken Weiner, President of JK Investment Properties, is responsible
for company operations and property and asset management. Along with
company co-founder, Jeff Quinn, Ken participates in capital formation,
acquisitions, and long range strategic planning. After working as a
residential sales agent for several years Ken received his California
broker’s license in 1983. At that time he formed Southwestern Equities
Group and created a series of investment partnerships to acquire RV and
mobile home parks. He served as General Partner for eight partnerships
that purchased eleven parks with over 2,500 spaces. Ken managed these
properties through the mid-1990’s at which time he oversaw the
disposition of the assets.
Mr. Weiner has
managed real estate assets through the ups and downs of several economic
cycles. It was during the down cycles that Mr. Weiner demonstrated his
business acumen and personal perseverance. In the tough times Ken
developed disciplined cost controls, implemented aggressive marketing
plans, and forged strong relationships with his lenders. It was in the
down cycles that Mr. Weiner grew into a seasoned real estate
professional.
Mr. Weiner has
also managed the following:
• Condemnation litigation
• Rezoning
• Major utility renovation
• Expansion and remodel of Commercial Properties
• Loan refinancing
Mr. Weiner has
served as an expert witness and consultant.
In addition to his California Broker’s license he holds
Broker’s licenses in Nevada and Arizona and is licensed as a mobile home
dealer in Nevada.
Mr. Weiner earned
a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia
in 1971 and a Master’s Degree from San Diego State University in 1975.
Company co-founder
and Vice President, Jeff Quinn, directs his energies toward asset
acquisition, partnership due diligence, capital formation, and investor
relations. Mr. Quinn began working in real estate development and
brokerage in 1978 when he formed a series of partnerships with members
of the Fletcher Family, one of the pioneering families in the history of
San Diego’s development. Together they developed several hundred
entry-level houses in East San Diego County.
In 1987 Jeff Quinn and Jim Scott formed Scott & Quinn Real Estate in
Mission Hills, now the oldest real estate brokerage firm in this
prestigious San Diego community. Scott & Quinn Real Estate specializes
in residential sales and income property brokerage and property
management. From 1991 to 2001 Jeff pursued several major development
opportunities. As a partner and Director of Development he directed
Arena Group 2000’s effort in completing the Preliminary Master Plan for
the Downtown San Diego Entertainment and Sports Center. The City Council
unanimously adopted the Master Plan in August 1994.
He managed the
design and construction of the new San Diego Hall of Champions Sports
Museum in the historic Federal Building in Balboa Park. This 70,000
square foot innovative and interactive museum won the prestigious
California Preservation Foundation Award for 1999. After completion of
the Hall of Champions Jeff directed the negotiations to acquire a new
downtown site for the San Diego Children’s Museum from the City of San
Diego. He directed the preliminary design efforts and processed the plan
through to approval by the City Council.
Jeff earned a
Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California, San Diego in 1973.

Staff
Chris Schweighart works primarily in the area of property management. He coordinates the efforts of our on-site managers and the vendors and service providers at each of the company’s properties. He also directs company communications with our tenants. He responds quickly to the needs and demands of the properties. He brings not only property management expertise to the company but also the interpersonal skills required to maintain close communication with all the parties involved in the running of large facilities.
Chris also works on company acquisitions with special focus on the due diligence analysis of tenant leases, financial reports, and market demand for vacant space.
Chris joined JKIP after eight years in the field of secondary education. He taught Spanish at a private college preparatory school in north San Diego County and managed many special projects for the school including leading international expeditions and humanitarian missions to Third World countries in Latin America.
Born and raised in San Diego, Chris graduated from Colgate University in upstate New York in 1997, with a major in Spanish. He is currently one of only 60 alumni nationwide to serve on the Colgate Alumni Corporation’s Board of Directors. Chris earned an MBA with a specialization in Entrepreneurship from San Diego State University in 2006.
